Base Seoul Meetup - 2024 Oct: A Night of Community, Education & Film

On October 22nd, the Base Seoul community gathered at SOOHO Lounge in Gangnam for an evening that perfectly balanced technical insights with cultural appreciation. This special meetup featured both vital ecosystem updates and an exclusive screening of "Vitalik: An Ethereum Story."

Base Ecosystem Updates & Builder Resources

The evening kicked off with comprehensive Base ecosystem updates, covering recent developments including Jesse Pollak joining the Coinbase Executive Team, advancements in Base wallets, and the exciting Basenames initiative. The presentation sparked engaging discussions about builder resources, with our team guiding interested developers to the right platforms and documentation.

A particular highlight was our Korean summary of the Base Builder Friday call, which proved to be a game-changer for our local community. As one builder shared, "Having these updates in Korean has removed the language barrier that previously kept me from fully participating in the global Base ecosystem."

Seoul's Exclusive Film Premiere

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the first-ever community screening in Seoul of "Vitalik: An Ethereum Story" - a unique opportunity before its global streaming launch in early 2025. This feature documentary, created through community crowdfunding and distributed in true Web3 fashion, offers an intimate look at tech visionary Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum's vibrant builder community.

The screening, officially arranged through the Gathr platform in collaboration with Optimist, gave our community members an early glimpse into this remarkable story. The room was filled with warmth and admiration as attendees watched Vitalik's journey, with many noting his endearing authenticity and remarkable vision for an open internet accessible to all.

Building Bridges

This meetup represented more than just an event - it symbolized our commitment to breaking down barriers in the global Web3 community. By combining ecosystem education with cultural elements, we're creating spaces where builders can learn, connect, and be inspired.

Looking Forward

As we continue to grow the Base ecosystem in Seoul, we're excited to keep bridging the gap between local and global communities. Stay tuned for more events that combine technical insights with unique experiences!
